Saturday 31st December
Rather fittingly the last day of the year produced one more first-visiting airliner, a Ryanair Boeing 737-800, EI-DCP operating the morning Dublin rotation. No fewer than sixty-six members of the fleet first-visited Newcastle Airport during 2005 !. Happy 2006 to you all .....
Friday 30th December
Possibly the last first-visiting airliner of the year was provided by Jet2, Boeing 737-300 G-CELH positioning in from Leeds to operate the afternoon/evening Cork rotation after delays caused by the morning snow/ice. Ryanair also chipped in however, Boeing 737-800 EI-DHJ making its second visit on the evening Dublin schedule.

Thursday 29th December
Another example of the airliner type of 2005 at Newcastle Airport first-visited, Ryanair Boeing 737-800 EI-CSV operating the evening Torp flight - the carrier in no small way helped to more than double the number of -800s to visit during the year compared with 2004. Air Taxi Citation 550 F-GNCP which had first-visited during October, made its second appearance here during the afternoon.
Wednesday 28th December
More diversions, with a pair of executive jets diverting in from Durham/Tees Valley during the morning, NetJets Europe Citation Excel CS-DFP making only its fourth appearance here, while the much more interesting Challenger 604 N604LA arrived mid-morning from Liverpool for a night-stop. A planned NetJets Europe movement later in the day saw Citation XLS CS-DXD arrive for a night-stop during the afternoon, only the machine's second visit.
Tuesday 27th December
More airliners, with a first-visitor, and also no less than three making just their second appearances here. Two of these were Ryanair Boeing 737-800s, yesterday's first-timing EI-DHZ on the morning Dublin schedule and EI-DCG on the evening Dublin rotation, while the Axis Airways Boeing 737-300 F-GIXG which operated a charter flight on December 17th, flew the return portion just after sunset. The first-visitor was a diversion from Doncaster, easyJet Swiss Airbus A.319 HB-JZO arriving from Geneva during the evening, to where it positioned out to after an hour on the ground here.
Monday 26th December
Probably a more interesting Boxing Day than most in our history, at least thanks to a pair of airliners during the late evening, Ryanair's very new Boeing 737-800 EI-DHZ first-visiting on the Dublin schedule, while easyJet Airbus A.319 G-EZIO made its second visit here on an 'in reverse' Stansted rotation - it had first visited during August.

Saturday 24th December
Just the return of the Euro Atlantic Airways Tristar CS-TEB in the early hours from Tenerife on its My Travel Airways 'sub', the aircraft subsequently making its fifth take-off from Newcastle Airport, positioning back to Lisbon.
Friday 23rd December
A superb airliner day with plenty worth mentioning - the only first-visitors were Ryanair Boeing 737-800s however, EI-DHJ first-timing on the morning Dublin schedule while EI-DCG followed on a similar routing during the late evening. The early hours had produced the first-visit this year of Air Europa's machine EC-IDT on an extra Tenerife charter rotation, while My Travel Airways 'subbed' Euro Atlantic Airways L.1011 Tristar CS-TEB for their afternoon Tenerife departure - the aircraft's fourth appearance here, it had last visited on a 'sub' for Airtours during September 2002, while it had earlier appeared on substitutions for Transjet Sweden and Air Azores. CityJet BAe146-200 EI-CSK made its first visit of the year on the afternoon Brit Air Paris-CDG schedule, while My Travel Airways Airbus A.320 C-GTDK arrived late in the evening, its first appearance here since 27th October 2002.

Thursday 22nd December
A much more interesting day with a first-visiting airliner and two first-timing executive jets. We had to wait some time for the airliner, Hapag-Lloyd Boeing 737-800 D-AHFY operating the late evening HLX Hannover schdedule, while the new biz arrived during the morning, Execujet Scandinavia Learjet 60 OY-LGI spending a few hours with us, while NetJets Europe Beechjet 400 CS-DMC made a shorter visit just before mid-day, only the third of the fleet to appear here.
Wednesday 21st December
The only machines of note on a very quiet day were a pair of extra mail aeroplanes, BAC Express Shorts 360 G-TMRO making its first visit as such during the early hours for a late evening Stansted departure - the aircraft had last visited as G-OBLK during October 2003 and still wears its 'City of Newcastle' name - and Aeronova Metroliner EC-JCU which made its second visit also during the late evening.
Tuesday 20th December
The day's only highlight was the first first-visiting Ryanair for two weeks, EI-DCN routing through during the evening on a Dublin-Stansted flight to drop off engineering support for a u/s machine on the late afternoon Dublin rotation.

Monday 19th December
Nothing too exciting although there were a few GA movements of note. Cessna 340 N340YP visited over lunch-time, Cessna 404 D-IAAZ arrived during the afternoon for a night-stop on the north apron, while Falcon 20 N357PS made its third visit at tea-time, the aircraft also night-stopping. King Air 350 LX-MLB also made a return during the late evening, its second appearance here in the last week.

Three first-visiting aeroplanes on the second last Sunday of the year - Jet2 Boeing 737-300 G-CELI positioned in from Manchester during the afternoon to operate the day's Murcia rotation after problems with the based G-CELA, while City Airline's Embraer ERJ-135 G-CDFS arrived from Luton during the afternoon for a night-stop with the rock group Coldplay, the aeroplane wearing a basic jetMagic livery with titles and tail logo belonging to the band. Interesting biz jet movement during the morning was the first-timing CitationJet CJ2 N357J which visited briefly from Gamston to Inverness using Eastern Airways callsigns.

Notables amongst a fair number of GA visitors were King Air 350 LX-MLB which arrived during the morning for a night-stop, and Aerostar N69LP which spent the middle of the day with us.
Wedenesday 14th December
Just a single Boeing 737-800 of note, KLM's leased-from-Transavia machine PH-HZM on its third appearance here on the morning Amsterdam rotation, Maule N535TK which visited over lunch-time from/to Norwich, and a pair of King Air 90s, N59GG making two visits from/to Blackpool, and DARTA's F-HHAM which made its second landing here just before midnight.
Tuesday 13th December
Nothing of note ....
Monday 12th December
Just one aeroplane to mention, BAe125-800 N494AT making its second appearance, spending the evening with us - it had first-visited exactly two months ago.
Sunday 11th December
A very quiet Sunday, with just the departures of the night-stoppers to mention, Jet Ranger OE-XBA all the way to Eshott, and Voyageur Airways DHC.8-300 C-FEYG to Keflavik, both during the morning.
Saturday 10th December
A varied day - Jet2 flew a Vienna day-trip, a 'sub' for First Choice Airways, Boeing 737-300 G-CELU positioning in from Leeds during the early morning for a before dawn departure, only the aircraft's fifth visit here, and first since February 2003. Interesting GA visitor was Jet Ranger OE-XBA which arrived from Humberside during the afternoon for a night-stop, and Voyageur Airlines DHC.8-300 C-FEYG arrived on a west-bound ferry flight, the machine also night-stopping, still wearing its 'UN' livery - it had passed through east-bound on 25th September. Military exec jet visitor during the evening was Belgian Air Force Falcon 900 CD01, only the aircraft's second visit here as such, and first since March 1999 - it had also visited previously wearing a UK civil identity.
Friday 9th December
More executive jets of interest - NetJets Europe Falcon 2000EX CS-DFF first-visited during the afternoon, while Citation XLS CS-DXC appeared during the morning, only the machine's second visit, its first having been on September 18th. Flightline BAe146-300 G-FLTC arrived on a football charter during the afternoon, its first visit as such, the aircraft's last visit having been as G-JEBH of FlyBe during September 2004, while the only Boeing 737-800 of note was not a Ryanair machine for a change, Futura's EC-JHV making its third visit on the lunch-time Tenerife charter.

Thursday 8th December
Another of those big biz days, although again it involved now quite familiar machines again also, obviously not co-incidentally, visiting together. The early morning saw exec airliner Douglas MD-87 N143G arrive direct from the USA for a two-hour stay, the aircraft having appeared here previously during the early December of two of the last three years, on 6th December 2002 and 4th December 2003. A pair of Challenger arrivals a little later in the morning involved 604 N818TH on its third visit here, and 300 EC-JEG also on the airframe's third visit, both having last visited on the same day recently, on 19th October 2005, while another Bombardier product first-visited as such during the afternoon, Global Express N838SC staying for just a couple of hours before departing across the Atlantic. Interestingly the machine had visited previously as N711LS on 4th December 2003, the same day as the last visit from MD-87 N143G !. Manhattan Air Premier G-VONJ followed up its first visit just yesterday, with its second during the afternoon.
Airliners were confined to a pair of Boeing 737-800s, Ryanair machine EI-DHM second-visiting on the morning Dublin schedule, while KLM's PH-BXN made its third appearance here on the first Amsterdam rotation of the day.
Wednesday 7th December
The beginning of another period of intense executive jet activity produced two unusual British regitsrations, Premier I G-VONJ of Manhattan Air first-visiting as such during the afternoon, while London Exec's Citation Excel G-WINA made just its third visit later in the evening. Uncannily both machines had first-visited on the same day, 17th May 2004, the Premier wearing the identity N50586 back then. The only airliner of note was not surprisingly a Ryanair Boeing 737-800, EI-DCT second-visiting on the evening Torp schedule.
Tuesday 6th December
This is getting boring ! - Ryanair Boeing 737-800 EI-DCY first-visited on the afternoon Bergamo schedule, and easyJet Airbus A.319 G-EZIB made its second appearance here on the late evening Stansted rotation.

Monday 5th December
Just one item of note, and yes it was a Ryanair Boeing 737-800, EI-DHM first-visiting on the morning Dublin rotation.
Sunday 4th December
A pair of executive jet arrivals just after dark produced another first-visiting Global Express, N725LB arriving from Farnborough under a TAG Aviation callsign for a night-stop - the registration had actually visited before on a Gulfstream IV during September 1997 and December 2002. Air Alsie Falcon 2000EX OY-CLN had arrived forty minutes earlier also for a night-stop, its fifth visit here. Only airliner of note was Ryanair Boeing 737-800 EI-DCO which made its second visit on the evening Torp schedule.
Saturday 3rd December
A few airliners of note including the return of a regional jet type after an extremely long absence - FlyJet Boeing 757 G-FJEA made its second visit as such in the early hours on the return of the My Travel Airways Tenerife rotation, positioning out to Manchester, while the only first-visiting airliner was easyJet Airbus A.319 G-EZEP operating a late evening Stansted rotation. Brit Air's late morning Paris-CDG scheduled services on Saturdays and Sundays became a Regional Airlines Embraer ERJ-145 'op' for the time being, F-GUPT flying the first rotation, the first civilianised ERJ-145 to visit here since 26th March 2005 !.

Friday 2nd December
A non-Ryanair airliner first-visit-as-such, FlyJet Boeing 757 G-FJEA which positioned in during the afternoon to operate the My Travel Airways MYT815/6 Tenerife rotation. The aircraft had first appeared here as G-IEAB of Inter European Airways way back in 1990, and last as G-LCRC of My Travel Airways. Co-incidentally the aircraft's last visit as G-LCRC on 27th September 2002 was on the Naples 'W' as MYT816/5 !. There were still Ryanair Boeing 737-800s of note however, recent first-visitors EI-DHD and EI-DHO both making their second visits during the day on the Dublin rotations.

Thursday 1st December
Just Ryanair Boeing 737-800s again of note, the fleet continuing to provide more interest in such a short space of time as possibly any other in our history. EI-DCF and EI-DHD were both first-visitors, both on the day's Dublin rotations, while EI-CSO made just its second on the Bergamo schedule. The two first-timers now mean that more than two-thirds of the fleet have now visited Newcastle Airport.
Wednesday 30th November
Two first-visiting Irish aircraft - you guessed it, another Ryanair Boeing 737-800, EI-DCO on the Torp schedule, and Airlink Airways' very new, but not new production, Learjet 60 EI-REX, which spent the late afternoon and evening with us. Also of interest was the DARTA King Air 90 F-HHAM which visited over breakfast-time.
Tuesday 29th November
Another first-visiting Boeing 737-800, but not a Ryanair machine this time, KLM's PH-BXG operating the first Amsterdam rotation of the day, surprisingly the eleventh of the fleet to appear here. RAF-Avia Antonov An-26 YL-RAC returned from Stansted during the early hours, its second visit in the last ten years, the aircraft duly day-stopping and departing to Stansted during the late evening, as it is expected to do all this week. Raytheon demonstrator King Air 200 N36579 passed through on its way back from the Dubai Air Show, routing Augsburg to Reykjavik during the afternoon - it had appeared here on 5th October operating a flight for Specsavers Aviation.

Monday 28th November
Back to first-visiting Ryanair Boeing 737-800s, another rather new machine, EI-DHO operating the morning Dublin rotation. Only other item appeared after dark, RAF-Avia Antonov An-26 YL-RAC arriving from East Midlands during the evening to operate an additional late evening departure to Stansted - the aircraft had actually visited just once before, as long ago as 9th March 1994 !.
Sunday 27th November
easyJet produced the day's first-visiting 'lo-cost' airliner, Airbus A.319 G-EZEV operating an evening Stansted rotation - Ryanair Boeing 737-800 EI-DHP made its second appearance on the late evening Dublin schedule, and Danish Air Transport Beech 1900D OY-JRV operated a charter during the morning, its first visit since October 2002. Citation 750 N750GF which had first-visited during September, came back for its second during the afternoon.
Saturday 26th November
Back to just Ryanair Boeing 737-800s, the rather new EI-DHW first-visiting on the morning Dublin rotation.
Friday 25th November
Just one aeroplane of note, an airliner, but amazingly not a Ryanair 737 ! - Eastern Airways used their second foreign-registered Dornier 328 of the month for their afternoon Aberdeen rotation, the very smart dark-grey and blue-liveried TF-CSA of City Star Airlines.
(with both Dublin rotations now programmed as B738 wef today, the visits will be presented in the order 172/3 4637/8 1705/6 176/7 - although the 176/7 was a B732 today, and it ops before the 1705/6 until early in the new year !!!)

CityJet BAe146-200 EI-CWB operated the morning and afternoon Brit Air Paris-CDG scheduled services, only the aircraft's second and third landings here in the last four years. A pair of 'big Falcon's provided exec jet interest too, NetJets Europe Falcon 2000 CS-DFD making its second appearance during the morning - it had first-visited during August - while Falcon 50 LX-FMR did the same during the afternoon, a machine which had first-visited much longer ago, on 30th September 1999.

Just Ryanair Boeing 737-800s worthy of mention, another new machine, EI-DHR, operating the morning Dublin rotation - EI-DHI made its second visit later in the morning on the Torp schedule.

Just one of each again, although the exec jet was only a second visitor, NetJets Europe Citation Bravo CS-DHK visiting after dark - it had first appeared here last October. Thursday 10th November
On a day that was always likely to provide more exec jet interest than airliners, another easyJet Airbus A.319 first-visited on an 'in reverse' Stansted rotation, the ex-Swiss machine G-EZAM during the morning. NetJets Europe Hawker 800XP CS-DNN surprisingly made only its second visit at lunch-time, its first being as long ago as April 2003, while Global Express F-GVML came back for its second landing in consecutive days later in the afternoon. Gulfstream V N16NK took a trip to Luton and back during the afternoon, departing presumably for another year a little later to Torrejon, while the other 'big biz' stoppers, Gulf 4 N80AT and Falcon 2000 EC-GNK, also departed at dusk.
Wednesday 9th November
Just a few more exec jets to mention, the most interesting being Global Express F-GVML which visited briefly mid-afternoon - it had been one of the machines which flew training approaches a few years ago, overshooting on 21st April 2002 as G-52-25. Citation Excel G-CIEL made its third visit also during the afternoon, and MAS Airways Citation 550 G-DWJM which had first-visited as such the previous day, departed at lunch-time, returning for another visit during the late evening.
Tuesday 8th November
Interest shifted back to executive jets as is often the case at this time of year, although the day's first aeroplane of note was the Transavia Boeing 737-800 PH-HZM on the first Amsterdam rotation of the day, an aircraft which had visited once before on 15th October 2003, but which now wears the full new KLM colour-scheme. Biz jet arrivals during the afternoon got going with the first-visit as such of MAS Airways Citation II G-DWJM, the aircraft being no stranger to Newcastle Airport however, having visited on many occasions as G-BJIR, the last time on 11th January this year, while three machines all made their fourth landings here later in the afternoon, Citationjet G-CJAD, Gulfstream V N16NK, and Gestair Falcon 2000 EC-GNK, the latter two night-stopping. Friday 4th November
The first Friday of the winter season produced a number of airliners of note, two of this winter's charter series getting going with aircraft of note, the mid-day Futura Tenerife charter being flown by the first-visiting Boeing 737-800 EC-JFB, while new operator British Jet began their Malta series during the mid-morning with Hello AG Douglas MD-90 HB-JIB wearing the Maltese-based carrier's colour-scheme. The aircraft had actually visited before this year, on a Lourdes charter on 3rd April, while it had provided us with the first-visit of this much more regular type here in recent weeks, as TC-KTB on 2nd May 1997. Ryanair began the switch-over to Boeing 737-800 equipment on their Dublin schedule, the morning rotation being flown by EI-DCZ, its fourth appearance here, while one of their old 737-200 aircraft appeared here for the first time in its new guise a little later, European Air Charter's G-FIGP arriving from Stansted for a night-stop. The last summer Saturday of this year, a day which had produced substantial Spanish airliner interest during Summer 2005, had an executive airliner as its highlight, Canadair Regional Jet SE VP-BCI arriving during the afternoon for a night-stop. Nothing of note from Spanair or Air Europa as had been the case during much of the season, but Futura produced two Boeing 737-800s of relative note, EC-JDU making only its fourth visit on an early morning Las Palmas arrival, and EC-JGE only its third on an early evening Malaga rotation.

A more interesting day with freight charters again providing the most interest. An early morning exec jet visit on such a flight produced just the second appearance here of CitationJet D-IPCS, the machine having visited during last October, while Farnair Europe Fokker F-27 HA-FAE operated a flight from Tours during the evening, the aircraft subsequently night-stopping. Interestingly it had visited previously as a Farnair Europe aeroplane but wearing a different registration, the aircraft flying three night's worth of Stansted mail flights for BAC Express as HB-IVQ during November 2002. It had also visited once previous as G-BVZW of Channel Express way back on 16th March 1996. The day's other highlight was Challenger 604 N3HB which arrived from Farnborough at tea-time for a double night-stop - a first-visiting aircraft, the registration had actually been seen here on two previous airframes, on an earlier model Challenger in 1996, and a Learjet 55 way back in 1988 !.

Plenty of airliners of interest as the summer charter season winds down - the two Boeing 737-800 flown Ryanair scheduled services also produced aircraft of note, yesterday's first-visiting EI-DAP again on the Bergamo schedule, and today's first-visiting EI-DCK on the Torp. Onur Air's Sunday Dalaman charter operated mid-morning again, producing the first visit as such of Airbus A.321 TC-OAL, an aircraft which had visited four times during 2002 as D-ALAK of Aero-Lloyd, while Excel Airways Boeing 757 TF-ARD arrived to operate remnants of summer charter series in the coming days, an ex-Air 2000 aeroplane which had visited 5 times as such during the summer of 2003.
